I don’t know who needs to hear this, but being home with your kids doesn’t mean your bank account has to be empty. Whether you’re budgeting to survive, save for something big, or just tired of asking your partner for money (been there), this post is your permission slip to start earning in real life…in real mom time.

These 10 stay-at-home mom jobs are the real deal. You don’t need a degree, a ton of free time, or even childcare. Just your phone or laptop, some quiet moments (nap time counts), and the will to make that side income stack.

Let’s go.

1. Start a YouTube Channel for Moms

You don’t need a fancy camera or a studio. Just your phone, your voice, and something helpful to say.

Moms are constantly on YouTube looking for:

  • Budgeting tips
  • Easy kid meals
  • Daily routines
  • Cleaning motivation
  • Homeschool life
  • Real talk about motherhood

And guess what? You already live that life.

Once your channel is monetized (which takes time but is doable), you can earn through ad revenue, sponsorships, affiliate links, and even your own product promos. It’s a long game, but it’s also evergreen income. Meaning videos you made months ago can still make you money today.

If you’re already doing all the things: filming your day or sharing your tips is just hitting “record” on what you’re already doing. And that’s mom efficiency at its finest.

2. Freelance Writing

Got opinions? Can string words together while sipping your café con leche? You might make a great freelance writer.

Start with platforms like ProBlogger, Upwork, or even Facebook groups for bloggers. Niche down into parenting, budgeting, or lifestyle if you want an easier “in.” You don’t need to be the next NYT bestseller, you just need to know how to sound like a real human. (If you’re already reading this blog, you’re halfway there.)

3. Virtual Assistant (VA) is a great stay-at-home-mom jobs

If you’re the friend who remembers birthdays, manages the family calendar, and knows where every school permission slip is hiding, then you’ve already got VA skills.

VAs help business owners with emails, social media, scheduling, and more. You can make $20–$50/hour once you get your groove. And no, you don’t need to take a $1,000 course to start; you can learn as you go. Start small and build.

4. Start a Blog (and Monetize It)

Okay, blogging is not overnight money, but it can grow into a full-blown income stream with the right strategy.

You can make money through:

  • Affiliate links
  • Sponsored content
  • Digital product sales
  • Ads once you have traffic

Pick a topic you’re obsessed with (like homeschooling, frugal living, or parenting hacks) and just start. Don’t overthink it. One of my blog readers told me she made her first $200 from a single blog post using an affiliate link. Wild.

5. Childcare from Home

If your house already looks like a daycare… why not get paid like one?

You can offer babysitting, after-school care, or even a mini toddler playgroup. Check your state’s regulations, but a lot of moms keep it casual with just 1–2 other kids. Use your daily routine (snack, nap, circle time) to your advantage and charge for the peace of mind you’re giving other working moms.

6. Online Tutoring or Teaching

If you’re already homeschooling or just have a love for teaching, you can get paid to tutor online.

Sites like Outschool, Wyzant, or Preply let you teach what you know: math, reading, Spanish, even “how to write an essay.” You don’t need to be a certified teacher either, especially for one-on-one tutoring. This one’s perfect for moms with school-age kids who can schedule around their own homeschool hours.

7. Resell Stuff Online

This one is low effort and super mom-friendly: sell stuff from around the house.

Start with your kids’ outgrown clothes, unused toys, or baby gear. Post them on Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, or Poshmark. Once you get the hang of it, hit up thrift stores and flip items for profit.

Baby items and seasonal clothes sell like hotcakes if your pics are decent and your price is fair.

8. Printables on Etsy

This is a sister hustle to digital products but deserves its own spotlight.

You can design simple printables (budget sheets, meal planners, kids’ chore charts) in Canva and upload them to Etsy. Moms are always searching for cute, functional, printable magic and with low fees and millions of eyeballs on Etsy (use my referral link for your first 40 free listing!), this is a solid way to start building that passive income stream. Don’t have time to design printables? Check out my PLR shop, Her Digital Creative, to start selling printables in 100 different colors and fonts, but without having to start form scratch!

9. Social Media Manager

Yes, you can get paid to scroll if you’re doing it with intention.

Small businesses, content creators, and online coaches are begging for help with social media. If you’ve ever made a pin, posted a reel, or scheduled content on Canva, you’re halfway to being a social media manager.

Start by offering services to people you already follow. Keep it simple: content creation, posting, engagement. And charge accordingly! This is a real job.

10. Design and Sell Squarespace Templates

Okay, this is for the artsy techy mom (or the one who’s not afraid to Google her way to success). If you’ve ever played around with a website builder and thought, “Ooooh this layout would look way better if I just moved this here…” — this might be your lane.

Squarespace templates are in high demand, especially with small business owners who want a cute, clean site but have no time (or interest) in building one from scratch. You can design customizable site templates, package them with instructions, and sell them on:

  • Etsy
  • Creative Market
  • Your own website

Once they’re made, it’s passive money. You just promote the listing, and when someone buys — boom, instant download.

You don’t need to be a coding genius either. Squarespace is drag-and-drop territory, and there are tons of free tutorials online to help you get started.

Pro tip: bundle your template with a brand board (fonts, colors, logo ideas) and you can charge even more.

Final Thoughts: Yes, You Can Make Money as a Stay-at-Home Mom

You don’t need 40 hours a week or a perfect Instagram aesthetic. You need a starting point and a reminder that your time, skills, and ideas are worth something.

The best part? You’re already doing hard things every day: keeping kids alive, running your house, maybe even homeschooling. Adding a little income stream doesn’t have to mean burnout. It can mean freedom.
